PRESIDENT Robinson has convened a meeting of the Council of State for Tuesday to consider whether or not to refer the Equal Status Bill to the Supreme Court.
It is the second time in a month that the President has used her powers to call in the Council for the purpose of consulting whether the constitutionality of a piece of legislation should be tested.
In April, she referred the Employment Equality Bill to the Supreme Court for a decision on whether any of its provisions were repugnant to the Constitution, and that decision is awaited.
