Kampala - Firms owned by the brother of Ugandan President Mr Yoweri Museveni illegally borrowed $44 million from a bank in which the government is the majority shareholder, a newspaper claimed yesterday.
Greenland Investments, largely owned by Maj Gen Salim Saleh, was lent the money earlier this year after he allegedly fraudulently acquired a 49 per cent stake in the previously state-owned Uganda Commercial Bank (UCB), the state-owned New Vision newspaper reported.
