London - Prince Charles had an unexpected meeting yesterday when he visited some of London's homeless and ran into one of his old classmates. The prince was visiting the London offices of the Big Issue, a magazine sold by homeless people, when Mr Clive Harold introduced himself as one of the pupils in the prince's school class 44 years ago.
"The prince did not remember me of course and I only remember him because we both had big ears and because he was obviously well known there," Mr Harold said, adding that Prince Charles remembered they played soccer together at Hill House school.
Mr Harold said he was the son of a millionaire financier and had been a successful author and showbiz journalist, but his life fell apart after he began drinking heavily following two broken marriages. The prince signed a copy of one of Mr Harold's Big Issues and patted him on the back and wished him good luck as he left.
