Riyadh - Saudi billionaire entrepreneur Prince Al-Walid bin Talal spoke up yesterday for women's political rights in the conservative Muslim kingdom and said a ban on women drivers would "slowly but surely" be lifted.
"Women make up half of society, and they must play an important role. Islam has never been opposed to their involvement in the political, economic, social and financial spheres," he said. "On the contrary, Islam granted them these rights. I think it is tradition which is blocking the way, not Islam," he continued.
