Boston - The injury that caused nine-month-old Matthew Eappen's death could have been caused by a fall from less than three feet with a "trivial" impact, a specialist told the Louise Woodward murder trial yesterday. Dr Alisa Gean said she believed the baby had suffered a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage three to four weeks before his death last February.
Ms Woodward (19), an Englishwoman, is on trial for the baby's first degree murder. Dr Gean, chief of neuro-radiology at San Francisco General Hospital, said it was possible that Matthew had been shaken in a mild fashion during attempts to resuscitate him.
