New Delhi - Burmese prisoners are terrorising other inmates in eastern India's Bengal state by cooking their pet cats and dogs, leading to serious security problems, Rahul Bedi reports.
Mr N.K. Chakraborty of Alipore Presidency jail in the state capital, Calcutta, said the 58 Burmese inmates considered cat and dog meat a delicacy and constantly tracked the animals inside prison to ensnare them, leading to clashes with their owners.
He said the local inmates were afraid of the stocky, long-haired Burmese, as were their pets, which rarely left their owners' cells for fear of being killed.
