ONE of the prisoners identified as being involved in the siege at Mountjoy prison where warders were held by six inmates appeared before the Dublin District Court yesterday to face an old charge.
Warren Dumbrell (22), of Emmet Street, Dublin, is charged with being in possession of house-breaking implements on Temple Road, Rathmines, on October 26th.
Garda Ciaran Smyth, of Rathmines Garda Station, told the court that Dumbrell was held on a warrant and he was not ready to proceed with the case. A solicitor for Dumbrell said her client was prepared to consent to a further remand of one week. Judge William Earley remanded Dumbrell to January 14th.
During the brief hearing, Dumbrell was surrounded by four warders and gardai who ushered the members of his family to the back of the court and away from the dock.
Dressed in a pink shirt with a brown V-neck jumper, blue jeans and white runners, he remained silent except to ask the judge for a brief pause in the hearing to talk to his solicitor.
