The Goverment is making "solid progress" in its decentralisation programme, Minister for Social and Family Affairs Seamus Brennan said today.
Mr Brennan was speaking at the opening of new offices in Sligo town and Carrick-on-Shannon where 250 staff from his department will be relocated.
A new €10 million extension to the Social Welfare Services Office in Sligo town will accommodate up to 100 decentralised staff, as well as 60 existing staff who are relocating from other offices in the town.
New offices in Carrick-on-Shannon will be ready for almost 130 decentralised staff in early April, Mr Brennan said.
"The decentralising of some 250 staff immediately to Sligo and Carrick-on-Shannon, rising by a further 100 in the near future, is a clear indication of the determined and solid progress being made in the delivering of the decentralisation programme."
Minister of State at the Department of Finance Tom Parlon also attended today's ceremonies.
