Gardai investigating the brutal murder of a Connemara teenager, Siobhan Hynes, hope to receive directions from the DDP within the next three weeks.
Up to 50 gardai were involved in the investigation into the murder of the 17-year-old Leaving Certificate student, whose body was found on Tismean Beach near Carraroe, Co Galway, on December 6th.
Siobhan, from Leitir Mor, had been enjoying a night out with her sister and some friends in Carraroe when she became separated from them after going towards a chip shop shortly before 1 a.m. on that date.
Gardai discovered her fleece jacket and a silver locket nearby and established that she had struggled with the murderer.
The Garda file on the murder, which is over 500 pages long, was sent to the DPP two months ago after the questioning of a number of people and forensic examinations.
