Prohibition Terror

Detroit, Michigan, Thursday.

Detroit, Michigan, Thursday.

Two thousand men and women in Wayne County may be sentenced to life imprisonment under the Habitual Criminal Act, according to an estimate made at Lansing by Attorney-General Wilbur M. Brucker.

He believes, that this number has been convicted four times as violators of the prohibition law, and should have been cited in court as habitual criminals.

Robert M. Toms, Prosecuting Attorney, has asked the police department for a list of persons subject to court action as habitual criminals, and is awaiting the information from Police Commissioner William P. Rutledge.

"Under the present law it is mandatory for the prosecutor to go into court and ask for the imposing of a life sentence," Attorney Toms states. "There is no alternative as far as my office is concerned, and upon receipt of the list from the Police Record Bureau we will take action along these lines."
