A prostitute has told the Central Criminal Court she was raped and robbed near Baggot Street Bridge, Dublin, by a Co Antrim man. The woman, who had previously been prosecuted for stealing from clients, was recognised by Det Garda Declan O'Brien on the night of the alleged offence. The woman told the jury she agreed a fee of £20 with the man, which did not include intercourse. They went to the canal bank where he pushed her to the ground and raped her.
The accused man has pleaded not guilty to rape and to two further charges of sexual assault and theft of £40. The hearing continues before Mrs Justice McGuinness.
