Supporters of a Nigerian woman facing deportation from Belfast will today make a last-ditch appeal to the British Home Office.
A midday rally will be held outside Belfast City Hall urging the Home Office to reconsider its decision to send Comfort Adefowoju and her young family back to Nigeria today despite fears for her safety.
Ms Adefowoju has been living in east Belfast since 2006 after saying she and her children were threatened and intimidated by paramilitaries in Nigeria. Campaigners have claimed she could be killed if she returns there.
Despite a campaign for the family to be allowed to stay in Belfast supported by politicians in Northern Ireland, Ms Adefowoju was told last Friday she would be deported today.
The Home Office's decision has been condemned by her friends in Belfast who successfully managed to stall her deportation three times.
Today's rally will be attended by Sinn Féin MEP Bairbre de Brún and Assembly member Alex Maskey, who has written to Home Secretary Jacqui Smith urging her to intervene in the case.
