Amnesty International will protest outside the Iranian Embassy in Dublin today over a journalist believed to be under sentence of death in Iran.
Mr Morteza Firouzi, the editor of Iran News, was convicted in 1998 after a secret trial on charges of "espionage and adultery". An appeal to the Supreme Court was turned down and his case referred back to the court of first instance. His fate remains uncertain but he is not thought to have been executed.
The demonstration, which takes place at 1 p.m., is being organised by the Dun Laoghaire/Blackrock branch of Amnesty.
