Commuters in Dublin are likely to face traffic delays later today when the week long tractor protest by farmers converges on Dublin.
While morning traffic is expected to be unaffected by the protesting farmers, delays are anticipated this afternoon.
Today's protest sees six separate convoys converging on Dublin's Merrion Square. Each convoy will consist of 50 tractors.
Gardaí will escort the convoys to and from their rallying points. They will use bus lanes where possible to minimise disruption.
With the protesters not due to leave Merrion Square until after 4 p.m. the traditionally busy Friday evening rush hour in the city is expected to be badly disrupted.
Gardaí said they will escort the convoys back to their starting places after the protest. Officers will be positioned along main junctions to keep traffic flowing. The protest will be monitored by the Garda Air Unit.
There was no parking on Merrion Square and Upper Mount Street from midnight last night until after todays protest. The convoys will take the following routes:
Swords N1 - Swords Village, M1, N32, Malahide Road, Fairview, Five Lamps, Amiens Street, Matt Talbot Bridge, City Quay, Westland Row.
Ashbourne N2 - Finglas, Finglas Road, Prospect Road, Whitworth Road, North Circular Road, Five Lamps, Amiens Street, Matt Talbot Bridge, City Quay, Westland Row.
Dunshaughlin N3 - N3, Blanchardstown by-pass, Navan Road, New Cabra Road, North Circular Road, Five Lamps, Amiens Street, Matt Talbot Bridge, City Quay, Westland Row.
Maynooth N4 - M4, Lucan by-pass, Chapelizod by-pass, Con Colbert Road, South Circular Road, Suir Road, Dolphin Road and along Grand Canal to Mespil Road, Haddington Road, Northumberland Road, Lower Mount Street.
Naas N7 - Goffs, Naas Road, Long Mile Road, Crumlin Road, Parnell Road and along Grand Canal to Mespil Road, Haddington Road, Northumberland Road, Lower Mount Street.
