Two men have been arrested following a murder in a village in north Co Antrim. Dan Keenan, Northern News Editor, reports.
The victim was named locally yesterday as Darren Murphy, who was in his 30s and a father of one. The Police Service of Northern Ireland said he was injured during an incident outside a bar on Main Street in Armoy shortly before 2am yesterday.
It is believed he was having a night out with friends. He died at the scene.
Police also say they arrested two men near where the murder was committed.
One man in his 30s and another in his 40s are in detention and helping police with their inquiries. Detectives appealing for more information have called on people in the vicinity to contact them at Coleraine PSNI station.
Mr Murphy was well known in the village and there is widespread shock at his killing.
DUP North Antrim Assembly member Mervyn Storey said that in the absence of full details about the murder, the man's death was a tragedy.
"I'm saddened that we've had such an incident that has taken place, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas," Mr Storey told BBC Northern Ireland.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family."
