A fugitive paedophile was rearrested by police in the North today.
Neal Daniel Lynch (29) was detained in Derry after a hunt for the dangerous sex offender.
The PSNI said he had presented himself at a police station in the city this afternoon. He was taken into custody.
Lynch, who was originally from Co Donegal, sparked the alert after failing to notify police of his whereabouts.
He was convicted at Dublin's Criminal Court in 1997 of the attempted rape of a child and sexual assault. Lynch was in Britain recently before moving to Northern Ireland.
Under the terms of his release from prison in the Republic, he was put on the UK sex offenders register. But police said he failed to comply with the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act.
