A terrified woman flung herself from a moving car after being abducted in west Belfast, it was revealed today.

A terrified woman flung herself from a moving car after being abducted in west Belfast, it was revealed today.

A short time earlier she had made another bid to escaped her abductors but had been caught and dragged back to the vehicle. She was recovering at home today after being treated in hospital for the injuries she suffered when she hit the road after escaping from her car during the ordeal.

The woman was seized as she got into her car after locking up a fast food restaurant in the Glen Road at 2am on Saturday. Two men got into the vehicle and forced her into the rear seat. She managed to flee the car and run up the street but was seized and taken back to the vehicle, said police.

The PSNI said the car, a blue Volkswagen Polo, was driven off along the Glen Road, the Falls Road, Donegal Road and onto the MI motorway. The car then left the motorway at Dunmurry and was being driven towards Lenadoon when the woman made her successful escape.

A police spokesman said: "As it was being driven along Dungloe Crescent the woman managed to jump from the vehicle while it was still moving.

"She was then able to flag down a passing car and was taken to a nearby police station."

The woman was robbed of a small sum of cash during her ordeal, said the spokesman. Her car was later found abandoned.

Police arrested two men who were released later released on bail pending further inquiries.
