Damage running into tens of thousands of pounds has been caused to a collection of vintage cars in what the Police Service of Northern Ireland suspect was a fire started by arsonists.

At least four vintage cars were badly damaged in the fire in the Baragh Road area of Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, last night.

The fire started some time between 7.40pm and 11.45pm when, police said, two vehicles at the rear of a house appear to have been set alight deliberately.

The fire spread to a garage containing a number of vintage cars and at least four of the old vehicles and the building were badly damaged.

A PSNI spokeswoman said "The damage caused runs into ten of thousands of pounds."

The collector who owns the vintage cars is on holiday unaware of what has happened. Police said they were trying to contact him.
