Animal welfare officers in the North have seized nine illegal Pit Bull fighting dogs during a raid on a premises in Co Down.
A combat ring, steroids and treadmills for strengthening the animals were also seized from farm buildings in Katesbridge, Co Down, the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.
"The dogs had scars on their faces that is indicative of dog fighting," a spokesman said.
The property was empty, and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of the property owner.
