Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey today urged people to give their opinion on a new Luas line planned between Lucan and Dublin city centre.
Speaking at the start of a public consultation process for "Line F", Mr Dempsey said it would provide a "realistic alternative to private transport, and it will improve the quality of life for commuters along one of the busiest routes into the city".
The light rail line is expected to deliver a journey time of about 42 minutes to the city centre.
"I encourage the public to get involved in the consultation phase of this project so that the Railway Procurement Agency can select the most appropriate route for the service," Mr Dempsey said.
Line F is one of the seven new Luas projects planned under the Government's Transport 21 initiative.
