Thousands of racing fans will descend on Co Kildare today for the opening of the Punchestown Festival.
Gardaí have warned traffic build-ups within Naas town and surrounding areas are likely throughout the four-day event.
Those travelling to the area via the M1, N2, N3 and N4 routes have been advised to travel via the M50 to the main Dublin/Limerick N7 road. Traffic coming from the south should travel via the N81 (Tallaght/Blessington) to Ballymore Eustace (R411) and onto Punchestown Racecourse.
Traffic from the southeast can travel via the N9 Carlow or Athy routes through Kilcullen and onto the Naas Road. Traffic from the southwest can travel via the N7 turning off at the Newbridge exit to Kilcullen and onto the Naas Road.
