Delhi - India yesterday advised Queen Elizabeth against visiting the site of a bloody massacre by British troops in the northern town of Amritsar during her trip to India later this year. Sikhs from the northern Indian state of Punjab have said the queen should apologise in person for the massacre in Amritsar if she visits the town.
British troops in 1919 opened fire on a political meeting in an enclosed compound at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, killing 379 people and wounding another 1,300. - (Reuter)
