Fans of the silver screen blockbuster The Quiet Man, which starred John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara and Barry Fitzgerald, will launch a campaign this month to have an Irish language version of the film released.
The 1952 John Ford romantic comedy has already been translated and dubbed into nine languages, the most recent being Turkish.
Now the avid Quiet Man followers feel since the film was made in Ireland it should be available "as Gaeilge".
The official fan club members will gather at Ashford Castle in Cong, Co Mayo, at the end of this month to launch the campaign. The meeting will also feature a special quiz on the movie classic which was shot at locations in Cos Mayo and Galway.
The session, on September 27th, will be chaired by Castlebar, Co Mayo, native, Prof Des McHale, who has researched and written extensively on the film.
Fan club organiser Mr Paddy Rock explained: "We selected Ashford Castle for the meeting as many scenes for the film were shot on the grounds of the world-renowned castle.
"Our hope is to expand the fan club, and we will be pressing to have the film put into Irish.
"Already it is available in nine different languages, the most recent being Turkish. If John Wayne can speak Turkish surely he can manage Irish."

He added: "Des McHale is setting the first ever Quiet Man quiz. There was never one done before, and we hope this will set the base down so that we can use it again in the coming years."
Fans from all parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England and Scotland are expected to travel to Mayo. Already over 1,000 fans have signed up and people are joining daily on the website www.quietman/celebration.com
