An “alternative financial proposal” in relation to Seán Quinn jnr’s efforts to purge his contempt of court may be put forward, the High Court was told yesterday.

Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne said the position can be clarified through correspondence in advance of the next court hearing on February 15th.

Ms Justice Dunne had last June ruled Mr Quinn, his father and cousin, Peter Darragh Quinn, were in contempt of orders restraining stripping of assets from the family’s international property group (IPG).

Mr Quinn was jailed for three months and served that term while his father was later jailed for nine weeks.

A warrant for the arrest of Peter Darragh Quinn to serve a three-month term remains unexecuted while he remains at home in Northern Ireland.

Ocean Bank

Mr Quinn jnr has told the judge he is anxious to purge his contempt and previously the court heard Irish Bank Resolution Corporation, which brought the contempt proceedings, had decided to accept his offer to sell the home he shares with his wife Karen Woods at Alder Lodge, Farmleigh Woods, Castleknock, Co Dublin.

The bank previously also consented to Mr Quinn’s offer to travel to Moscow to get statements concerning accounts held by Quinn family members in Ocean Bank.

The court was told the bank would not release statements unless an account holder appeared in person, and Mr Quinn is obtaining powers of attorney so as to get statements.

Ms Justice Dunne was told minor technical difficulties had arisen about his travel to Moscow and issues had to be resolved.

She said such matters were not a major difficulty and adjourned the case to February 15th.
