The Labour leader, Mr Pat Rabbitte, has said he is proud of the party's choice of European election candidates for Dublin, Mr Prionsias De Rossa and Ms Ivan Bacik.
Labour introduced Mr De Rossa and Ms Bacik at the launch of its European election campaign in Dublin this morning.
Mr Rabbitte said: "Both are deeply committed to the European ideal, and both are deeply committed to the best possible representation for Dublin. They share and represent a vision of Europe that aims to deliver progress towards justice and greater equality".
Dublin director of elections and former party leader, Mr Ruairi Quinn said: Labour in Dublin was putting forward the best candidates of any political party.
"Proinsias De Rossa's long and experienced political career has given him stature and seniority in the European Parliament where he is currently vice-president of the Socialists Group.
"Ivana Bacik, a young Reid Professor of Law at Trinity College is following in the political footsteps of two previous holders of that office President's Mary McAleese and Mary Robinson".
