A joint announcement from the British Horseracing Board
and Jockey Club is expected later today as pressure grows for action in the face of the foot and mouth crisis.
Chepstow's meeting tomorrow became the second fixture to be lost since the outbreak started after it fell within an exclusion zone.
And although tomorrow's cards at Wetherby and Lingfield are still scheduled to go ahead trainers are starting to take unilateral action by closing down their yards until further notice.
A statement on the Jockey Club website this morning said: "A joint announcement with regards to racing and the 'foot and mouth' outbreak will be released later on today."
Fears are growing racing will have to be closed down, especially with the Cheltenham Festival just a fortnight away.
