CORK RADIO presenter Neil Prendeville will not return to broadcasting on Cork’s 96FM until an incident involving him on board an Aer Lingus flight from London to Cork last month has been fully investigated.
Chief executive of 96FM Kieran McGeary said yesterday that Mr Prendeville, whose show has a listenership of 106,000, will remain off air until 96FM has completed its own inquiry and gardaí have concluded their criminal investigation into the incident.
“This step allows both the radio station and the gardaí to complete their investigations into the matter, and I also think it’s important for Neil and his family to be able to deal with the situation,” said Mr McGeary in a statement broadcast on 96FM yesterday.
It is alleged that Mr Prendeville (49) exposed himself in the front row of seats on the aircraft just as it was about to take off from Heathrow Airport on the night of October 19th last.
