Play in the women's semi-finals at Wimbledon was suspended for a second time at this afternoon due to showers of rain at the London venue.
American Lindsay Davenport and Maria Sharapova of Russia were called off Centre Court after rain started falling on the All England Club.
The pair had got their semi-final underway just after the scheduled time of 12pm but, with the score at 15-15, were sent back to the locker room by a shower. When play resumed Davemport raced to a 6-2, 2-1 lead.
The weather forecast predicted an 80 percent chance of rain disruption with the possibility of a storm later in the afternoon.
After a wet first week forced organisers to schedule play on the middle Sunday, the first two days of the second week escaped without interruption but 2 1/2 hours were lost to rain yesterday.
