"We made Derby an offer of £6 million but they have knocked that back and, as far as we are concerned, the issue has been put to bed.

"We made what we thought was a very fair offer of £5 million up front plus an extra payment of £1 million after a number of first-team appearances.

"They have rejected that offer and we have not heard from then since," Murray said.

Rangers' newest recruit, Michael Ball, could be set to make his first appearance in two weeks' time.

The former Everton defender has yet to play for the Ibrox side due to a knee injury but has completed his first proper training session and hopes the next few weeks could see him pulling on the light blue jersey for the first time.

He said: "It was a big relief to finally train with the rest of the lads and my knee is feeling great".
