Four aid workers who were kidnapped by rebels in northern Uganda early last week were freed overnight, the relief group International Rescue Committee (IRC) said today.
"The released officials had arrived safely in the town of Lira by Sunday evening, though they looked weak and tired after walking long distances," IRC country director Mr Timothy Bishop said.
"We received them Sunday evening. They returned without any harm inflicted on them and they said they were treated well while in captivity," he said.
The aid workers were kidnapped during an attack last Monday by the Lord's Resistance Army on a camp for Sudanese refugees in which at least 38 people died.
