Algiers - Muslim rebels slashed the throats of nine villagers in an Algerian hamlet yesterday morning, government security officials said.
The officials said rebels killed three children, three women and three men and wounded six others in the massacre at Tadjana hamlet in the coastal province of Tipaza. Earlier, the government said that seven people were killed and five wounded. The overnight massacre brought to more than 60 the number of people killed in the past six days of violence in Algeria.
