The referendum on the Lisbon Treaty will have to be held not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days after the Referendum Bill is enacted.
The Bill will be introduced in the Dáil after Easter but is not expected to become law until mid- to late April.
However, the Taoiseach has given a commitment to hold the referendum in or around 90 days after the establishment of the Referendum Commission. As the commission was established yesterday, that would place the date of the referendum about June 5th.
