Leeds United have confirmed Peter Reid as their manager on a permanent basis.
The Leeds board met on last night and announced their decision to the London stock exchange today.
"Over the past few weeks, I have come to know Peter well," chairman John McKenzie said. "I have found he is not only a very good football manager, but also a great manager of people and we shall want to use his skills widely within Leeds United".
The former Manchester City and Sunderland boss was appointed interim manager in March following the departure of Terry Venables.
Since then, the 46-year-old has led Leeds to safety in the Premiership - their surprise win at Arsenal last Sunday finally killing off any fear of relegation.
Following the sacking of David O'Leary last year, Leeds underperformed during the reign of Venables whose situation was undermined by the club's financial position. Chairman Peter Ridsdale quit his post 10 days after Venables was sacked.
"Leeds United is a great club that has to succeed on the football pitch," McKenzie added. "Failure is totally unthinkable. As such Peter's contract will be one of the most heavily incentivised in the UK football world".
