A man facing a charge of harassment of RTÉ broadcaster Pat Kenny has been further remanded in custody with consent to bail.
At a scheduled appearance before Cloverhill District Court yesterday, Paul Stokes, Montpelier Parade, Monkstown, was granted legal aid, although the case was not dealt with. It was deferred until Monday when the hearing of a separate matter is due to take place.
Det Sgt William Power of Kill o' the Grange Garda station told Judge Anne Watkin that Mr Stokes was alleged to have placed four posters at the laneway of Mr Kenny's home on Christmas Eve.
He is charged under section 10 of the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act 1997, which states: "Any person who, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, by any means including by use of the telephone, harasses another by persistently following, watching, pestering, besetting or communicating with him or her, shall be guilty of an offence."
At an earlier hearing, Mr Stokes was granted bail to look after his mother who had been taken ill recently.
This decision was revoked one week later when it was decided by another judge at another court that the incident on Christmas Eve amounted to a breach of bail conditions.
Mr Stokes has been in custody since then.
