Remand for man on robbery charge

A Belfast man accused of a bank robbery in Co Mayo last May was remanded in custody at the Special Criminal Court yesterday.

A Belfast man accused of a bank robbery in Co Mayo last May was remanded in custody at the Special Criminal Court yesterday.

Mr Sean Hughes (39), of no fixed address, was returned for trial to the court from Castlebar District Court.

He was charged last May with robbing Mr John Kavanagh, manager of the Bank of Ireland, Foxford, Co Mayo of £3,090 on May 16th last.

Mr Hughes, who is also facing charges of possession of a sawn-off shotgun and a starting pistol with intent to rob, was remanded in custody until November 4th next.
