Gardaí in Co Limerick have renewed their appeal for the mother of the newborn baby who was found in a skip to contact them.
The full-term baby boy was discovered on Thursday morning at White's Skip Hire yard in Killila near the village of Broadford in Co Limerick. The skip was being unloaded shortly after 9.30am when a Polish worker made the discovery.
A postmortem carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy revealed no signs of trauma on the baby's body and gardaí have ruled out foul play.
They have, however, renewed their appeal to the infant's mother to contact them in the strictest confidence.
"We would be extremely concerned for her welfare and would appeal to her to contact us. So far she has not contacted us but we would like to reassure her that the matter will be dealt with sensitively," said Supt Tom Gavin, who is leading the investigation.
It is unclear where the skip originated, he said, but added that the company serviced areas all over west Limerick and north Cork.
