Sinn Fein has urged nationalists to reject an SDLP call for car thieves to be reported to the RUC. Mr Martin Morgan, an SDLP councillor yesterday called for nationalists to follow the due process of law, including informing the police.
Sinn Fein's Mr Gerry Kelly said only restorative justice schemes would tackle the problem. He repeated his party's position that the force was not a proper police service. An RUC spokesman said the course of action prescribed by Mr Morgan was the only one for any law-abiding citizen to take.
