A meeting to establish a unionist party in the Republic is to take place in Cootehill, Co Cavan, on November 8th. Mr Ian Cox, a film-maker who lives in Co Dublin, said the party would be pluralist and wanted to respect all traditions on this island; the British tradition should be respected throughout the island regardless of religious loyalties.
Mr Cox, who will be party PRO, said great interest had been expressed in the party throughout the Republic. About 75 per cent of the interest came from Catholics. He expected to have the official launch before Christmas.
