Two Orange Order marches along the Ormeau Road in Belfast and in the Co Derry village of Bellaghy, which had been rerouted by the Parades Commission, passed off without incident yesterday.
Police Land-Rovers blocked the road on the Ormeau Bridge, and after walking up to RUC lines some 50 Orangemen led by the Ballybeen Young Loyalists Band, held a Somme remembrance service on the bridge. Nationalist residents did not hold any protest.
Mr Noel Liggett, secretary of the Ballynafeigh lodge, said they were disappointed with the decision.
He ruled out talks with the Lower Ormeau Concerned Community (LOCC), but said the Orangemen remained open for dialogue with those committed to moving the situation forward "in a positive manner, in the absence of sectional sectarian political motivation".
The LOCC said it would meet the Parades Commission today "to present evidence of the complete failure of the Orange Order to make any attempt to open dialogue".
A LOCC spokesman said it would press for the planned July 13th parade to be rerouted.
Orangemen in Bellaghy handed in a letter of protest to police after they were prevented from marching through the entire length of the village. There was no protest by nationalist residents.
