A number of residents in the south Dublin suburb of Donnybrook have lost a High Court action aimed at preventing a local property being used by the Government as a centre for asylum seekers.
The Government bought Broc House on Nutley Lane for more than €9 million four years ago. Some €500,000 has been spent on security and the upkeep of the building pending the outcome of the legal challenge.
Twelve residents had objected to a change of use of the premises from its use by the Franciscan Fathers to use as a reception or accommodation centre.
