Lansdowne Road residents are seeking a High Court injunction against the Irish Rugby Football Union to prevent it staging the forthcoming U2 concerts at the stadium. The application will be made in the High Court on Monday on the basis of affidavits from four residents living near the Dublin international rugby stadium.
They are seeking an order restraining the IRFU from making unauthorised use of the lands.
Pop concerts or concerts of any kind should not be held at Lansdowne Road until planning permission is obtained, according to the applicants.
Dublin Corporation told the High Court last week it was prepared to allow the concerts to go ahead, pending clarification on whether or not planning permission was needed.
The secretary of the association, Mr Philip Brown, said he was "surprised" by the Lansdowne Road residents' action. The IRFU would defend it vigorously.
