Eamonn Darcy signed-off with a respectable final round 70 for a two-under aggregate total of 286 in the Smurfit European Open at the K-Club this morning.
A solitary birdie at the par five fourth stood out from the eight pars which brought the Druids Glen professional to the turn in one-under.
The 48-year-old’s back nine started with a bogey at the 584 yard 10th but was later rectified with birdies at the 13th and 18th.
Damien McGrane, who was playing in the group in front Darcy, flirted around level par all week but eventually finished on three-over 291.
The Wexford club professional stumbled to a final round 74 which contained three bogeys and one birdie.
Lee Westwood concluded the defence of his title with a 71 for a one-over289 total, in what has been a disappointing tournament for the Worksop player.
Meanwhile, the final group of the day which includes two Swedes, Jarmo Sandelin and the overnight leader on 12-under Mikael Lundberg, tee-off at 2:23 p.m. this afternoon.
Irish interest will be satisfied by Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke inthe second and third last groups respectively.
