Melbourne - McDonald's was fined 2,000 Australian dollars (£960) yesterday after it sold a hamburger containing a 22 mm metal bolt.
It was the first time the food chain, which pleaded guilty to one count of selling adulterated food, had faced such a charge, Melbourne magistrates heard. Prosecutor Mr Graeme Peake told the court a female customer complained to Melbourne City Council after finding a bolt in a Sausage and Egg McMuffin on June 11th this year.
