Judges at The Hague tribunal sentenced a retired Yugoslav navy vice-admiral to seven years in jail today for an attack on the Croatian city of Dubrovnik in 1991.
Miodrag Jokic had pleaded guilty in August to murder, cruel treatment, attacks on civilians and destruction of historic buildings when his forces shelled the walled city. He apologised at the UN court last year to the victims of the shelling.
A large number of Croat citizens were killed by Serbian shellfire in the assault.
