The Irish Times Book of The 1916 Risingwas launched last night by the paper's editor Geraldine Kennedy. The book, by Fintan O'Toole and Shane Hegarty, is an expanded version of a supplement that was published with the paper in March 2006.
The supplement was published in association with the Department of Education and Science.
The newspaper sold 234,000 copies on the day it was first published - the largest daily sale in the 147-year history of The Irish Times.
Included in the book are contemporary diaries and eyewitness testimonies recently released, as well as new illustrations and additional material. The book has been published by Gill and Macmillan.
