AA ROADWATCH and gardaí have warned that several roads will be closed to motorists this weekend to allow for festival activities, including St Patrick's Day parades.
In Dublin, the major closures are on Monday.
To facilitate the main parade in the capital, Western Way will be closed from 5am to 2.30pm. Dominick Street Upper, Mountjoy Street, St Mary's Place North, Granby Row, Parnell Square North, Parnell Square East, O'Connell Street and O'Connell Bridge will be closed from 5am to 3pm.
Westmoreland Street, College Green, Dame Street, Lord Edward Street and Christ Church Place will be closed from 7am until 3pm.Nicholas Street and Patrick Street will be closed from 7am until 3.30pm. Clanbrassil St Lower will be closed from 7am until 4pm.
Merrion Square West will be closed all weekend and until 10pm on March 18th for a fun fair.
Today, Castle Street will be closed from 9am to 5pm for the Denny treasure hunt, while on Monday, Earlsfort Terrace will be closed from 7am until 8pm for the céilí mór.
The Skyfest fireworks display, which will be held at the Rock of Cashel, Co Tipperary, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm this evening, is likely to attract heavy traffic. Road closures and diversions will be in place.
The main car park on the Boherlahan Road can be accessed from the N8 northbound from Cashel.
The car park will be open from 2pm and the venue is adjacent to this car park. Four other car parks are available and will be signposted. All are about a 15-minute walk from the site and shuttle buses will be available. Only ticket holders will be admitted to the car parks.
Roads will be closed for the West Cork Rally today and tomorrow at various stages on the route from Rossmore to Clonakilty, and road closures will generally last for about five hours.
Several GAA and other sports fixtures will result in heavy traffic on all major roads for the remainder of the weekend.
