Preparations for the bicentenary of the Rising of 1803 will be announced by the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, next Thursday evening at the Conference Centre in Dublin Castle.
The Robert Emmet Society has adopted "Emmet 200" as the name for its commemoration. Members of the public and representatives from organisations and community development groups connected with the Emmet family or their activities will be invited to assist on the Emmet 200 Committee, which will be formed following the inaugural meeting.
