A PHILANTHROPIC organisation set up by NTR plc has agreed to provide funding for the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice, an organisation established by former president Mary Robinson.

The NTR Foundation will provide initial funding for Dr Tara Shine as head of research and development. Dr Shine has worked as an adviser on environment, development and climate change issues for more than 12 years. She has also been involved in UN climate change negotiations since 2003 as a member of the Irish, Dutch and Luxembourg delegations and as an EU negotiator on issues including capacity building, adaptation and finance.

Tara Humphreys, acting director of the NTR Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be supporting work that seeks to foster Irish and international leadership on issues of climate change and sustainable development.”

Bride Rosney, who heads the Mary Robinson Foundation, said it was “very pleased to receive support from the NTR Foundation at this early stage of our existence”.
