Bangkok - The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mrs Mary Robinson, said yesterday she was concerned about the living conditions of ethnic minority refugees from Burma in camps along the Thai border.
The issue flared up last year when the then UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Ms Sadako Ogata, criticised conditions at a refugee camp in Thailand, saying it was very overcrowded and sanitation was poor. Mrs Robinson told reporters after meeting the new Thai Prime Minister, Mr Thaksin Shinawatra, that she raised her concerns with him.
