She's lanky, unaffected by the latest fashion trends and does not adhere to current record company dictates for female singers such as dressing up in hipster jeans and wearing a slip of a handkerchief over her shoulders. Yet in the past 18 months, Juliet Turner (right) has transformed herself from an I'll-play-with-anyone support act into a substantial headlining proposition.
Her new album, Burn The Black Suit, is running out of the record shops and her stage shows evince a talent that is not only charming, but unerringly goosepimplehonest.
There's an appealing simplicity about Turner's work. She eschews the more "angsty" antics of some of her peers, opting for a more considered approach to her song-writing.
Fans used to seeing a stripped-down Juliet Turner (so to speak) should be advised that she will be appearing with a full band for her must-see gig at Dublin's Vicar Street next Thursday, June 15th.
